International Women’s Day, moving towards gender equality

March 8 is International Women’s Day, an emblematic date that commemorates the historic struggle of women for equality and social justice. Established by the United Nations in 1977, this day invites us to reflect on the achievements made, the pending challenges and the fundamental role of women in building a more equitable world.

One of the most remembered tragedies that marked the path towards gender equality was the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire in New York in 1911, where 146 people, mostly women and girls, lost their lives. This event revealed the harsh working conditions to which they were subjected, thus catalyzing the fight for better working conditions and rights.

Since the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, women organized, protested and fought for two fundamental rights: better working conditions with equal pay and the right to vote. These struggles continue to inspire us today, reminding us of the importance of perseverance and solidarity in the pursuit of equality.

International Women’s Day is not only a time to commemorate, but also to renew our commitment to promoting and protecting the rights of women and girls around the world. At GM Integra RRHH, we are committed to continuing to advocate for real and effective equality between women and men, recognizing the importance of diversity and inclusion in all areas of society. Happy day to all the women who inspire change and progress!
